The Danvers Football Falcons will be welcoming Winthrop to town tonight (7 p.m.), hoping to extend their winning streak to three games. Here’s what coach Ryan Nolan had to say about the season to date, and what to expect Friday night.
Another convincing win, is this team just playing on all cylinders right out of the gate? Do you still see things that have to be worked on to get to your ultimate goal?
We have had a good start, but need to continue to improve. Our specials teams still need work, and we need to develop more depth for a long season.
Are you surprised by the way they have been dominating the first two opponents?
Our kids have worked very hard year round in the weight room, and they our tough and physical naturally. We want to be identified as a tough, physical, unselfish team that plays hard the whole game.
After looking over the film, do you have a breakdown of the Lynn Classical game statistically? Leading rushers and receivers? Defensive standouts? Quarterback stats?
Rich Canova had a big game rushing for 150-plus yards. Ezra Lombardi threw for over 100 yards and two touchdowns to Jack Strangie. Chase Eary rushed the ball well, and had a few big third down receptions, and J.P. Kelter had a big run on a reverse.
What's the game plan heading into this week to keep it rolling?
We are going to prepare for Winthrop’s schemes, and work to hone our fundamentals.
