The Acton-Boxborough girls tennis team captured the Div. 1 North championship on Wednesday afternoon at Lexington High, edging Lincoln-Sudbury by a 4-1 score.

The defending Div. 1 state champs will now face Wellesley in the state semifinals at a time and location that have yet to be determined.

In the win over L-S,

both doubles teams gave A-B a 2-0 lead overall in the match. The Colonials first doubles team of Lindsay Ristaino and Anjana Srvistava actually won the final five games in the second set after being down 5-2 to win 6-0, 7-5.

Junior Helen Li and senior Brittaney Zhao were winners at No. 2 doubles for the Colonials.

Niki Surapamenini clinched the win for A-B with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win over Kate Solowey before Saanvi Vutukur of A-B grabbed a 6-3, 7-5 victory over L-S freshman Ella Chase at second singles.

Warrior freshman sensation Maddie Swire earned L-S a point with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-2 win over sophomore Ashleigh Parlman in a battle of two of the state’s top young talents at first singles.

Seeded fifth in Div. 1 North after a regular season that saw the Colonials go 11-3 overall, A-B beat Chelmsford 5-0 and Andover, 3-2, to earn the spot in the finals.

Monday’s opponent from Wellesley is a perfect 20-0 after beating Sharon for the South championship.
