There are four teams left in the Division 2 South softball bracket and they will all be in action Wednesday at Jack Tripp Field on the campus of Taunton High School.

In the opener it will be #2 seed Plymouth South (20-2) challenging #6 Fairhaven (17-5) at 3 p.m. The other side of the bracket will see top-seeded Greater New Bedford Voke (20-2) play #5 Norton (19-4) with a first pitch at 7 p.m.

Winners advance to the Div. 2 South finals back at Taunton High later this week on a date and time to be announced.

Between those two games tonight will be a Division 3 South semifinal game as #6 Rockland (16-4) will take on #10 Case (16-6) or a spot in the section finals.

Today’s battle is setting up to be a great pitching duel between Plymouth South sophomore Amelia Freitas and Fairhaven senior Ashley Leonard. Freitas limited Old Rochester to just one hit earlier in South’s tourney opener while Leonard allowed just two hits in a 12-0 win over Norwood.

After splitting the Patriot League Keenan Division title with Hanover during the regular season the Panthers from Plymouth South aren’t in the mood to be so kind in the tourney. They have yet to surrender a run in wins over Old Rochester (10-0) and Diman (5-0) to get them to the section semifinals.

Fairhaven, who finished second in the South Coast Conference behind GNBVT, has traveled a similar road of shutouts. After a bye in the first round Fairhaven blanked Norwell 2-0 and then Norwood by the score of 12-0.
