To the editor:
I take serious exception to the cartoon portraying a Democrat introducing a crocodile named "socialism," obviously a shot at candidate Bernie Sanders. You must be against such things as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, unemployment insurance, labor unions, all of which were cleverly labeled socialism or communism.
Here's what Harry S. Truman said about your position.
"Socialism is a scare word they have hurled at the people with every advance made in the last twenty years. Socialism is what they call public power, social security, socialism is what they call farm price supports. Socialism is what they call bank deposit insurance, socialism is what they call free and independent labor organizations. Socialism is what they call almost anything that helps all the people."
That cartoon would be the choice of a knee jerk, low info, uneducated person.
