Basket Weaving with Patty Batson important notice: Each basket class will now be $15 each. That is a small increase of $2.50 per class to help cover the increased cost of supplies. Rather than paying per month for a two-week class, each participant will pay $15 at each class they attend.

COMING MARCH 25: Bloom Bus Tours and Friends of Carver Council on Aging Present – “Greater Tuna” at the Newport Playhouse. Cost is $60 pp for COA Friends members or $80 for nonmembers. Price includes: an extensive buffet lunch, a hilarious play about a small town in Texas, an entertaining cabaret show plus motorcoach transportation. A $99 value. Glucose and Cholesterol Screenings will now be offered on the first Tuesday of each month with visiting nurse Julie Tooher, RN, from the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Welcome Wednesday: starting in April. On the first Wednesday of each month anyone new to the COA can come in for a personal tour and get answers about activities and services. Call ahead.
Rummikub: Noon Wednesdays. Drop-in to play this tile game. Beginners and experienced players are welcome. Instruction will be provided for those who need it.

Cribbage: noon Tuesdays

COA Board of Directors has two alternate positions open. Alternates attend regular meetings of the COA Board once per month. They may speak and participate in meetings like a full board member but only vote in the absence of a quorum. Applications can be submitted to the COA director Carole Julius, any board member, or to the Board of Selectmen’s Office at Town Hall.

Two internet desktop computers with a printer are now available for use in the back of the Nutrition Center of the COA. Free WiFi is always available for use with any personal electronic devices.

Meals-On-Wheels volunteers needed: If you or someone you know can help deliver meals to home-bound seniors in the community one or two mornings a week, call Dawn in the Nutrition Center at 508-866-4698, ext. 4.
Senior Surveys Update: The Senior Surveys have been mailed out! There has been a strong response and there is still time to get yours in. Go online to submit a response, or fill out the paper copy that was mailed to you. If you have any questions, or need assistance, call the Planning Office at 508-866-3400 or the COA at 508-866-4698.
New Bocce Court and Horseshoe Pits at the COA: Go check out the new bocce court and horseshoe pits constructed on the land behind the COA by Carver Eagle Scout Candidate Alex Diogenes. Use of the court and pits are available during the COA operating hours with bocce balls and horseshoes available to sign out in the Nutrition Center. Those who wish to play after hours and on the weekends need to bring their own horseshoes and/or bocce balls.
