The Salem Democrats will caucus together on March 7 at the Salem High School library, 77 Willson St., to elect delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Party State Convention.
This year’s Convention will be held in Lowell on May 30. Candidates for local and statewide office will be in attendance and this is a chance for Salem Democrats to meet and discuss the Convention and other upcoming events.
“The caucus is a wonderful opportunity each year for all of the Democrats in Salem to gather and learn more about what we can all do to help elect Democrats locally and across Massachusetts and the nation,” said James Willis, chair of the Salem Democratic City Committee.
The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Salem. Pre-registered Democrats who were 16 by Feb. 15 will be allowed to participate and run as a delegate or alternate. Youth, minorities, people with disabilities and LGBTQ individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate may apply to be an add-on delegate at the caucus or online at http://massdems.org.
Registration for the caucus starts at 12:30 p.m. in the SHS Library and the proceedings begin promptly at 1 p.m. Once the window for caucusing begins, latecomers will not be able to participate. The site is handicapped-accessible.
