The Maynard Public Library will host the free program “A Celebration of the Life and Work of Elizabeth Bishop” at 7 p.m. March 19.
Authors Lloyd Schwartz and Megan Marshall will discuss Bishop’s life and poetry.
Worcester poet Elizabeth Bishop was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award and many other awards. She has been called “the most famous poet you never heard of.”
Schwartz is a poet, a professor at University of Massachusetts Boston, a Pulitzer Prize winner and the author of “Elizabeth Bishop: Prose, Poems, and Letters.” He is currently the poet laureate of Somerville and a frequent contributor to NPR’s “Fresh Air.” Megan is a professor of English at Emerson College, a Pulitzer Prize winner and the author of the biography “Elizabeth Bishop: A Miracle for Breakfast.”
Books by the presenters and by Bishop will be available courtesy of Porter Square Books. Light refreshments will be served. The Maynard Public Library is located at 77 Nason St.
