The following are excerpts from the Maynard police log from Monday, Feb. 24, to Sunday, March 1. The log is public record and available for review. All persons are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
Monday, Feb. 24
1:12 a.m.: A caller reported a suspicious vehicle with its lights on and possibly one person inside on Elmwood Street. The area search was negative.
4:38 p.m.: A solicitor was reported going door to door on Oak Ridge Drive. Police contacted the manager of the individuals and advised them to apply for a permit.
9:46 p.m.: A George Road resident reported a vehicle had been parked in front of her house for 10 minutes. Police reported two high school friends were talking in the vehicle. No issues were found.
Tuesday, Feb. 25
1:37 p.m.: An older man dressed in all black was reported attempting to hitchhike at Summer Street and Nancy Circle. An officer gave the man a ride.
Wednesday, Feb. 26
10:42 a.m.: A caller at Tiger Drive reported a suspicious man walking around wearing a long black coat.
12:14 p.m.: A caller reported that more than $7,000 was stolen in checks and cash on Sunset Road.
8:51 p.m.: A caller on River Street reported her downstairs neighbor yelling at her about making too much noise upstairs.
Thursday, Feb. 27
6:22 a.m.: A motor vehicle crash was reported on Main Street.
1:38 p.m.: A vehicle was reported stolen from Acton Street.
1:39 p.m.: A downed tree was reported across the roadway at George and Rice roads.
7:22 p.m.: A caller reported someone had his Social Security number and had requested $10,000 in gift cards.
8:23 p.m.: An erratic driver was reported on Route 117.
Friday, Feb. 28
8:08 a.m.: A suspicious vehicle was reported on Tiger Drive. The vehicle had broken down and would be moved shortly.
2:47 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious woman walking into people’s yards on Old Mill Road and stating she was allowed by the conservation agent.
9:27 p.m.: A caller on Main Street reported the owner of a business was threatening to kill him and refusing to pay him.
Saturday, Feb. 29
1:03 a.m.: A caller reported a man with a weapon in his hand by a vehicle on Florida Road. Police located the man, who was hired by Avis to locate a vehicle not returned. The item was not a weapon but a tool for unlocking a vehicle.
11:41 a.m.: A walk-in reported a vehicle parked on Taft Avenue for three weeks. Police made contact with the owner, who stated she left it there while on vacation after a friend told her she could park it there.
11:52 a.m.: Illegal dumping was reported on Tiger Drive.
2:43 p.m.: A black and white dog was reported loose on Summer Hill Glen.
7:30 p.m.: A caller reported there was a vehicle parked on Dawn Road for 10 minutes and that she found it suspicious. Police spoke with the occupant, who stated the vehicle was dead and they were awaiting roadside assistance.
Sunday, March 1
12:24 a.m.: An erratic driver was reported on Main Street. The area search was negative.
