WAREHAM - The second graders in Macee Doyle’s Decas Elementary School classroom, and Doyle herself, received a wonderful surprise Thursday morning - presents for the classroom and the honor of being named “Southcoast Teacher of the Month,” by radio staton Fun 107.

“It’s really an honor,” said Doyle, who was nominated via a letter sent in by student Isiah Mullarkey’s parents praising the teacher’s “attention to each kid.”

In the letter, the parents wrote that Doyle “spends her own money to make sure they (students) have what they need.”

“I like making a positive impact in the students’ lives, helping them grow academically, socially and/or emotionally,” said Doyle, when asked what she likes most about teaching. “Because learning is really about all three of those things.”
