Walk the Mall with the COA in February and March!: Meet at the Legal Seafood entrance at 9:30 a.m. and walk with the COA until 11:30 a.m.. Or call the COA to arrange a ride on the van.
AARP Income Tax Filing Assistance at the Senior Center: through March 27. AARP volunteers provide free tax preparation to low- and middle-income individuals and families. For simple returns only. Appointment is required. To schedule an appointment, leave a message for Shannon at the COA at 781-316-3404.
Talk by Author Becky Chambers: 10 a.m.-noon March 3, Mural Room. Becky Chambers, author of “Whole Body Vibration for Seniors,” will speak about her new book and the benefits of this program. Call the COA to add your name to the list.
Vans to Market Basket!: 9 a.m. Tuesdays. The COA now has a weekly Senior Van running to Market Basket in Burlington. Call to book your ride. Cost is $6 round trip, and space is limited.
Fire Safety Program for Residents Over 60: You may be eligible for a free in home assessment or replacement of your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors by trained American Red Cross volunteers. Call Shannon at 781-316-3404.
Parkinson’s Disease Support Group: meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Whittemore Robbins House (yellow mansion behind the library). Call to register.
Heating Assistance Appointments: Arlington Residents of all ages can apply at the Council on Aging. Call for an appointment or to see if you qualify.
SNAP Application Intake Site: The COA can help you to apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program . Call to see if you are eligible.
Physical fitness: TAI CHI: 1-2 p.m. Mondays and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursdays with Bill Barron. YOGA: 10-11:15 a.m. Tuesdays. MUSCLE STRENGTHENING: 10:15-11 a.m. Wednesdays. STRENGTH AND BALANCE YOGA: 9:45-11 a.m. Thursdays. CHAIR YOGA: 2-3 p.m. Thursdays. EXERCISE: 9-10 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Call COA if you have questions. All classes are drop-in $4 each.
