WAREHAM - It happened again.

Last summer, three Wareham performers got nominated for the prestigious New England Music Awards. The same folks - Grace Morrison, Shaun England and Bethany Lawson - are now up for Limelight Awards.

Lawson, half of the husband-and-wife duo Plastic Angels (formerly “Angry Ginger”), is up for female vocalist of the year. Results will be announced at the annual ceremony April 26 at the Vault Music Hall in New Bedford.

“I’m just really excited and thankful to be recognized by my peers and local music industry professionals,” said Lawson, who will be performing with her husband Jeff Lawson at Onset’s Glen Cove Hotel this Saturday night.

Lawson wanted to send kudos to her voice coach, Debra Perry of Debra Perry's Vocal Development Studio in New Bedford, for helping her rehabilitate her voice from vocal nodules six years ago. “She helped me and continues to work with me,” said the Onset resident.

Singer-songwriter Morrison, who is performing next week in Hartford with another folk-leaning artist, Shawn Mullins, is up for solo album of the year for “Reasons.”

Jazz musician Shaun England is up for “male vocalist of the year.”

The special, all-ages awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 26, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Vault Music Hall, 791 Purchase St. in New Bedford. Tickets are $10.50 per person. Advance tickets can be purchased on the Limelight Magazine web page: limelightmagazine.com/2020.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund. Recovery donations are still needed to help wildlife in the regions impacted by the devastating fires.
