Meals on Wheels: Call Nutrition Manager Lori directly to make changes to your Meals on Wheels delivery or to sign up to have meals delivered to you. 781-294-4645.

Fuel Assistance: South Shore Community Action Council continues to accept applications for fuel assistance. Residents may contact the office at 781-294-8220 to request an appointment for help completing an application. For fuel emergencies call the office at 781-294-8220.

Food Assistance: For help with SNAP or emergency food assistance contact the office at 781-294-8220.

Medical Equipment: If you are in need of or would like to donate medical equipment please contact Tom at the Commission on Disabilities at 781- 293-9484.

Veterans Service: If you are a veteran in need of assistance please call the Veteran’s Department at 781-293-4651.

Transportation: Pembroke Council on Aging transports Pembroke resident Seniors 60 and older, and Pembroke Residents with disabilities, from 7:30 am to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. You must make a reservation with the Transportation Coordinator Christine White. All reservations must be made at least 48 hours before requested ride. Scheduled weekly rides include Stop & Shop, Shaw’s in Hanson, Walmart in Halifax and Target, plus to all weekly programs at the Council on Aging. All seats are on a first come first served reservation process, if you want to go you must make a reservation with the Transportation Coordinator Christine White at 781-294-8220. This is a free service to Pembroke residents.

Medical Rides: We have several wonderful volunteer medical ride drivers, please call as soon as you have your appointment so that we can schedule your ride as soon as possible by calling Christine White at 781-2948220. This is a free service to Pembroke residents.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Managing Osteoarthritis: 1 p.m. March 11. Mark Lembo from Ortho Rehab Associates will do this presentation on treatment options for arthritis of the shoulder, hip, knee and spine. Sign up required.

Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner: March 14 at First Church in Pembroke. Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Traditional Irish dinner of red corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, turnip, onions, soda bread, homemade desserts and beverages. Donation of $10. Mac and cheese is available for a $5 donation. Seating is limited, reservations must be made by calling the First Church office at 781-293-2584 or online at http://firstchurchinpembroke.org. This is a community outreach. If assistance is needed, tickets will be provided through Outreach Coordinator Linda Freeman on a by need basis. Please call her at 781-294-8220. Dinner will be eat in or take out but reservations must be made. Irish dancers from the Kenny Academy of Irish Dance will perform after dinner. Pembroke Housing residents contact Phyllis at 339-244-4450. They will also be collecting canned goods for the Firehouse Food Pantry

Memory Cafe: 1:30 p.m. March 18. Memory Cafe will celebrate St Patrick’s day a day late. We will be making shamrock wreaths, eating green snacks, playing St Patrick’s day Bingo and also playing Irish trivia among other things. Please make sure to sign up or call 781-294-8220 to do so.

Lori’s Special Lunch: 11:30 a.m. March 25. Join us the fourth Wednesday of every month for a new exciting lunch & learn program!! Each month Lori’s and OCES will be coming up with a special meal and the staff will be coming up with a special program with a special guest speaker. The special lunch will be pot roast, gravy, mashed potatoes, zucchini & tomatoes, dinner roll and a chocolate éclair. The learning part will be a very important topic presented by entomologist Blake Dinus from Plymouth County Control.
