Dog safety program for kids; insider’s guide to the supermarket
Barkology 101, Dog Safety Program with Cathy and Merida: 4 p.m. March 10. During this interactive teaching session about dog behavior for children and teens ages 8 to 13, instructor Cathy Acampora will be accompanied by her certified therapy dog, Merida. Acampora will interpret dog behaviors (action provided by Merida!) that signal what they like and do not like. Topics include dog body language, dog etiquette, training and breed questions. This drop-in program is made possible by the Plymouth County Extension 4-H.
An Insider’s Guide to the Supermarket: 2 p.m. March 11. What’s a shopper to do? Sorting out marketing hype, nutritional claims and labeling terms while checking out endless new and improved products can be a big challenge. Big Y’s consulting dietitian, Kathy Jordan, will help participants navigate through all the clutter and learn the basics of healthy shopping for healthier eating. In the Clemens Gallery, Historical Collections of the Hingham Library: Have you ever been curious about some of the hidden treasures in the Hingham Public Library’s historical collections? Visit the Clemens Gallery in the Library’s main lobby this month to see some of the collection’s important pieces including artwork by renowned artists Frank Vining Smith and Beatrice Baxter Ruyl, portraits of John R. Brewer and Albert Fearing, a land deed signed by Revolutionary War Major General Benjamin Lincoln and 19th century photographs.
