Registration is now open for the 2020 Becca Pizzi Annual 5K.

The 2020 event will take place on April 26 at the Belmont High School track, 221 Concord Ave. Runners of all ages, as well as walkers, are encouraged to register for the event, which celebrates endurance runner and Belmont resident Becca Pizzi. Proceeds from the event support scholarships for Belmont High School student athletes.

“Becca’s 5K and Fun Run has become one of our great community events,” said Roy Epstein, Belmont Selectman. “I and my fellow Select Board members hope you can run, attend, or contribute. All proceeds will support scholarships for Belmont High School graduates.”

The event will include a Kids Fun Run that will start at 9 a.m. Registration for the kids’ event is $10 and all finishers of the one-mile race receive a medal. The 5K race will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration for this race is $25 and there will be awards for top men’s and women’s finishers in eight different age groups. Participants will have a chance at other awards and giveaways throughout the day. Strollers are welcome.

“Becca’s spectacular accomplishments as a distance runner inspire all of us,” said State Sen. Will Brownsberger. “It’s wonderful that she is bringing this event to Belmont and raising funds for our students.”

Fitness Together Belmont partners with Becca Pizzi to organize this great community event that celebrates the love of running. Pizzi, a lifelong Belmont resident, is an endurance marathoner and two-time World Marathon Challenge Champion. In 2016 and 2018, Pizzi ran seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.

Other sponsors of the Becca Pizzi Annual 5K include Cambridge Trust, Dr Scholl’s, Pediatric Dental Arts, Lyon Waugh Auto Group, WT Phelan and HFactor.
