Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bowl: 6-8 p.m. March 24, Fairways at the Woburn Country Club, 5 Country Club Road, Woburn. $10 adults, $5 children under 12, $25 family. For information: http://woburnbusiness.org. The Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bowl is a community event and fundraiser where area restaurants compete for the title and the Big Cheese trophy. Restaurants bring their best version of the all American classic and attendees sample, rate and vote for their favorite. The event also features music and games. Proceeds benefit the North Suburban YMCA’s Summer Food Service Program.
Seniors seeking bowlers: Seniors looking for a little exercise and some socializing are welcome to join other seniors who bowl candlepins at 9:15 a.m. Fridays at alleys 31 to 38 at the Woburn Bowladrome, 32 Montvale Ave. Those interested need only to bring their spirit as the Bowladrome provides the bowling balls and shoes. Woburn Senior Center Senior Issues Breakfast/Lecture Series: 9:45-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Woburn Senior Center, 144 School St. Breakfast buffet for $2 at 9:45 a.m. includes scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, fruit cup, coffee and juice. Presentation and holistic wellness open forum at 10:30 a.m.
Core and Balance class: 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Woburn Senior Center, 144 School St. Core and Balance with Sharon is a vigorous senior class designed to focus on core, flexibility, strength training and fall prevention. Designed to accommodate all fitness levels, the class will work with a range of dynamic movements to bring seniors through a full range of motions for arms, shoulders, back and legs. There is also a specific focus on leg strength to facilitate movement in and out of a chair or to right oneself after a fall. The class costs $3 per session, payable to the instructor. Hospice help: Suite 3100, 800 W. Cummings Park. Compassionate Care Hospice needs volunteers to supply companionship and support to persons with life-limiting illnesses for one to two hours per week. Hospice help: VNA Care, a nonprofit organization serving patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families, is seeking hospice volunteers to provide companionship to patients and respite time for family members. Volunteers are men and women ranging from ages 20 to 80 who come from multiple backgrounds. Volunteers who are available during the day, are bilingual or can provide pet or music therapy are especially needed. No previous experience is necessary, and training is provided.
