The Abington St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee would like to announce that the Parade will be held at 1 p.m. March 15.

It will start at Abington Center “St. Patrick’s Square” and follow its usual route down Washington Street into North Abington Center. Several bands have signed up, including the Highland Light, Sutherland Pipe, Brian Boru Pipe, Brockton Fire Pipes & Drum, Old Colony Highlanders Pipe Band. New Hampshire Pipes & Drum will also be joining this year. The North Star Drum & Bugle, Cosmos Legion Band and William Desmond Fife & Drums will be also marching.

The high schools joining the parade are Abington High, Whitman Hanson, Pembroke and Silver Lake High. Abington High School’s State Champion football team and the Ultimate Frisbee Team will lead the way as grand marshals.

To help defray the cost of the Parade the committee will be holding a Meat Raffle at 2 p.m. Feb. 29 at the Polish Club, 55 Wales St. Lots of meat trays will be raffled, and there will be a 50/50 raffle and the scratch ticket board.

Keep in mind we still have an ongoing bottle and can drive at Bailey’s Garage with proceeds going towards the Parade. Drop off returnables from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
