HUDSON — The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts has named Jacobs as a 2019 bronze award winner for engineering excellence for their work on the Washington Street over the Assabet River bridge replacement.
Working with MassDOT, the town of Hudson, and local businesses, Jacobs Engineering Group used new construction methods and materials that delivered a completed bridge with a roadway closure of 85 days, 20 days sooner than the pre-negotiated outage length. These included the use of Northeast Extreme Tee precast beams for the bridge superstructure and Ultra-High Performance Concrete for field-cast closure pours.
The 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards were announced at the recent ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala.
“Each year we gather to celebrate and recognize engineering firms for projects that demonstrate innovation and excellence,” said Michael J. Walsh, PE, president of ACEC/MA and vice president of CDM Smith. “We congratulate our winners who work tirelessly throughout the year to advance the goals and values of our organization and the industry.”
