The Sharon Cultural Council set an Oct. 15 deadline for nonprofit organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the Sharon community.
These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Sharon — including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, or performances in schools, workshops and lectures, according to council co-Chairwoman Judy Waxman.
“It is such a wonderful feeling, knowing we are helping bring these enriching and entertaining programs to our community,” said Waxman. “This year, the SCC also plans on using a portion of allocated funds to sponsor cultural projects in town in collaboration with the high school art department.”
This year, the SCC will distribute about $6,800 in grants. Some of the previously funded projects in 2019 include Square Jam, Sharon Chamber Chorus, Mass Drama Festival at Sharon High School, Intro to Indian Music, public library youth and adult services, Council on Aging programs, Natural Resources of Easton local music at the Harvest Festival, Sharon Porchfest, Sharon Community Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert, Janet Applefield’s Combating Hate and Prejudice and Neponset Choral Society concert season.
