The Conservatory School for the Performing Arts announced one of its students, 9-year-old Stoughton resident Stella Cobb, has landed the role of Young Anna in the upcoming North American touring theatrical production of “Frozen” by Disney Theatrical Productions.

The national multicity tour starts Nov. 10 in Schenectady, New York.

Stella began her acting, singing and dancing training with The Conservatory School for the Performing Arts in 2017 at age 7. She started with the Recreational Showbiz Kids Program featuring 45 minutes of vocal acting and group acting classes per week, along with an additional hour of dance per week. Erika Frank, owner of the conservatory, suggested to Stella’s mother for Stella to take part in more involved programs at the school.

Stella then participated in the Pre-Professional Musical Theatre Program, an audition-only program which provides top-level training and professional opportunities and bridges the gap for students who want to pursue a career in the arts while training at the highest level. While Stella is in New York throughout September and October for rehearsals, she will continue with private vocal lessons with the conservatory via Skype, and Frank will stay involved as her manager.

“I opened up the conservatory in 2014 with our first summer program centered around the theme of ‘Frozen,’ so to see Stella book a once-in-a-lifetime role in a Broadway production as Young Anna is gratifying to see everything come full circle,” said Frank. “Our students have gone on to star in community theater shows, a regional production of ‘Ragtime’ at Wheelock Theatre in Boston and even some commercials and extra work, but this is our first student to reach the national spotlight. We are beyond proud of Stella!”

Other confirmed cities along the tour include Los Angeles; Seattle; Portland, Oregon; San Diego; Salt Lake City, Utah; Minneapolis; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dallas; and Cleveland, Ohio. When Stella is done touring, she will return to the Cconservatory for additional training in anticipation of the school’s annual June showcase.
