Families at Congregation B’nai Torah were welcomed back to the academic year with a Shabbat Mishpacha.

The event was the first coming together after the summer break, and it also included a barbecue and baby farm animals. Adults and children joined in the fun prior to a barbecue dinner prepared by the Brotherhood and a Family Shabbat evening service led by Rabbi Lisa Eiduson, Cantorial Soloist Jodi Blankstein and guitarist Adam Dehner.

The congregation also started off the school year with something new for the younger students, Hebrew Letter Yoga. By using their bodies and basic yoga poses to form Hebrew letters, the young learners are reinforcing the concepts taught in the classroom. This type of kinesthetic learning — using senses and movement — helps kids remember the letters and their sounds as well as gives them the opportunity to stretch and move.

The coming months at Congregation B’nai Torah have the K-12 school session and the upcoming High Holidays.
