The South Shore Chamber of Commerce will host a free entrepreneurial workshop Oct. 10 at chamber headquarters, 1050 Hingham St., Rockland.

The workshop will be open to the general public and will be separated into two parts.

Check in will begin at 9:30 a.m. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The first session, “Business Fundamentals,” will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session will focus on helping entrepreneurs understand the fundamentals of owning a business and provide information on how to get started and where and how to get financing. A review of the loan application process will be included.

Attendees also will receive a free business plan guide and other materials.

The second session, “Understanding Financial Statements,” will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. The session will provide attendees with information on balance sheets and income and cash flow statements and will explain how a small business owner can anticipate financial needs in order to operate a more efficient business.

“We are happy to host this comprehensive workshop for entrepreneurs and those people considering starting their own business,” said Julie Williams, director of membership and member services of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. “This type of workshop helps support a key strategy of our regional economic development plan, South Shore 2030, which is to help existing businesses grow and new businesses start in this great region.”

Advance registration for the workshop is required by Oct. 4.

The event will be sponsored by South Eastern Economic Development Corp. and the South Shore Development Corp. in cooperation with the chamber, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center and SCORE.
