Arlington’s Libraries are open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Sept. 7. Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. hours resume at Robbins in October.

Note: There are no singalongs at Robbins from July through September. Singalongs continue at Fox.

Singalongs for Infants and Toddlers at Fox Branch Library: 10 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 26. Join these fantastic singalong musicians for singing and dancing fun! Tickets 30 minutes prior.

Special programs for children and families

Registration opens for Fox 6th Grade Graphic Novel Club: 9 a.m. Sept. 18. Do you love comics and graphic novels? Join the Graphic Novel Book Club to meet other kids, and talk about some great stories and artwork. On Oct. 2, the group will discuss “Pashmina,” by Nidhi Chanani. Register online at https://graphicnovelbookcluboctober2019.eventbrite.com and pick up a copy of the book at the Fox Branch Library. The club is open to students in grade six. Participants should read the book before coming to the discussion.

Registration opens for October Page Turners Book Club for 4th & 5th graders: 9 a.m. Sept. 24. Next month’s read is “Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone.” Required registration at https://pageturnersoctober2019.eventbrite.com. Space is limited.

Lego Club: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Sept. 26, Robbins Library Children’s Area. Ready... Set... Lego! For ages 5+. Pick up a free ticket 30 minutes prior.

Play Together: 10-11 a.m. Sept. 27, Robbins Library Children’s Play Circle. Kiddos and their caregivers meet up to play, build and imagine with a new collaborative toy each week. For ages 0-5 with grownup; drop-in.

Fun at Fox: 10-10:30 a.m. Sept. 27, Fox Library. Stories, crafts, games for ages 2+; drop-in.

Registration Opens for the Kids’ Holiday Craft Fair: 9 a.m. Sept. 30. The 2019 Kids’ Holiday Craft Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room of Robbins Library. Space is extremely limited! If you sign up for this, you are reserving a table that is in high demand. Register as a team on one ticket if you intend to sit at the same table. Tables can fit two to four participants. Fit at Fox!

Introducing new running and walking clubs.

Quick as a Fox - Beginners Run Club at Fox: 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25, Fox Library. Put on your running shoes and join in for the first running club at the Fox Library! The group will meet at the library, do some stretching and run between 1.5 to 3 miles mostly along the Arlington Cultural District and Minuteman path. This club is for beginner runners, each week the group will build up the distance with the goal of running a 5K! Weather permitting.

Walking Club at Fox: 10-11 a.m. Mondays, Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30, Fox Library. Join in for the first walking club at the Fox Library! This is a great way to stay active and make some new friends in your community. The group will meet at the library and walk between 1.5 to 3 miles mostly along the Arlington Cultural District and Minuteman path. On the walk, the group will stop at local public art installations and learn a little more about them. Getting regular physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your health. Weather permitting.

Wayfarer Film Series presents ‘I Am Not a Witch’: 6-8 p.m. Sept. 26, Robbins Library Community Room. Travel the world and experience international cinema with the Wayfarer Film Series at Robbins Library! Catch a glimpse from beyond the continent, snack on fresh popcorn from the new popcorn machine, and enjoy a variety of films you might have missed at your local theater. The 2018 Zambian film tells the story of Shula, an 8-year-old girl accused of witchcraft, found guilty and exiled to a witch camp. After an initiation ceremony that marks the beginning of life as a witch, she is tied to a ribbon which if cut, will curse and transform her into a goat.
