Hingham Selectmen Friday morning will discuss town engineer Roger Fernandes’ resignation. Town Administrator Tom Mayo said the results of the town’s investigation into the allegations will be released shortly after the meeting.
Hingham's Board of Selectmen and its town administrator have scheduled a closed-door session Friday to discuss the resignation of embattled Town Engineer Roger Fernandes.
Fernandes has been under investigation by the town since early May, when allegations were made about him and assistant town engineer Harry Sylvester "double dipping." The two were alleged to have been collecting pay for work in with Fernandes' private consulting firm in Quincy at the same time they were on the clock for their jobs in Hingham.
Fernandes has been on paid leave since mid-May. Sylvester retired in April.
Selectmen posted a closed-door session earlier in the week to discuss personnel matters. As of Thursday, the agenda had been changed to also list "resignation of Roger Fernandes, town engineer."
Town Administrator Tom Mayo Thursday afternoon said the board will discuss the resignation Friday morning and "finalize findings" during the executive session.
Mayo said the results of the town’s investigation into the allegations will be released shortly after the meeting.
