MENDON — The Friends of Mendon Elders will present the raffle baskets made for them by the various groups that use the Mendon Senior Center, 62 Providence St., throughout the year.
The first place the baskets will be presented, outside of the center, will be Oct. 9 at the Fire Department open house, 8 Morrison Drive. Attendees can meet the Mendon firefighters, examine the fire trucks, and share in the free food as well as take a chance at the raffle baskets being presented by the Friends of Mendon Elders.
The second opportunity to buy chances for favorite raffle baskets will be Oct. 12 at the Lions Club Fair located in the field behind the Blessing Barn, 5 Hastings St., Mendon. Attendees can enjoy the many elements of the fair, put their chances in the raffle cans of their basket choices and view/buy the Christmas and handcrafted items that will be for sale at the fair.
The final festival is the Friends of Mendon Elders Oktoberfest from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Mendon Senior Center. Attendees can purchase their final raffle chances before the drawing. At the end of Oktoberfest, the winning names for all baskets will be drawn and the baskets will be gone for another year.
In between these festivals, the baskets will be on display at the Mendon Senior Center where participants can purchase additional raffle tickets.
