The Easton Fire Department will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Easton Fire Station, 48 Lothrop St., during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6-12.

Residents of all ages are invited to attend. Each year, the open house hosts about 600 to 700 attendees.

The event will feature an aerial ladder climb, a hydraulic extrication tool demonstration, the SAFE trailer and a visit from Smokey Bear.

“We hope to see a lot of families come out to meet our firefighters and see some of our equipment and apparatus on display,” said Chief Kevin Partridge. “We really enjoy hosting this great community event and I hope everyone has fun!”

There will be several activities for children and adults of all ages, including up close views of the department’s pumper trucks, ladder trucks, brush trucks, firefighting gear and ice rescue gear. In addition, there will be an advanced life support ambulance, a hazardous materials technical operational mobile unit truck and a 1935 Antique Ford Pirsch pumper.

Kids will receive plastic fire helmets, coloring books, safety brochures and other educational materials.

In addition, refreshments will be served, including Papa Gino’s pizza, cookies, juice and coffee.
