CONCORD, N.H. — A man and a woman are dead following a double shooting Wednesday evening at the Steeplegate Mall in Concord, New Hampshire.

Fire Chief Dan Andrus said that a report of two people shot at the mall came in at 7:45 p.m.

The shooting happened in the mall parking lot, near The Zoo Health Club. Gym members waited for the scene to be cleared so they could leave. One man said he was walking to his car when he heard noises he later found out were gunfire.

Police said the incident was contained, there was no active shooter scenario and there is no threat to the public.

The names of the two dead are being withheld pending family notification. Autopsies for the man and woman have not yet been scheduled.

All people involved with the shooting have been identified, officials said.

The attorney general's office is handling the investigation.
