A 30-year-old pregnant woman walking with her child was called a racial slur and punched in the face following a brief altercation with a stranger Sept. 20, according to Cambridge police.

The Dorchester woman told police she was walking on the 600 block of Massachusetts Avenue with her 11-year-old daughter around 7 p.m. when she noticed a woman staring at her. When she asked why she was staring, the two got into an argument. The suspect, who was white, then allegedly called the mother the n-word before throwing down her coffee and punching her in the face. The victim said she did not fight back because her daughter was there and she is pregnant.

The suspect then got into a black SUV parked in a bus stop.

As of press time, CPD was still looking to connect with the victim as part of its follow-up investigation.
