A Harwich woman escaped with minor injuries when her car hit a guardrail on Upper County Road in Dennis Port early Friday morning.

Dennis police were called to the scene near the Swan River Bridge just after 12:15 a.m. They found the car driven by a 78-year-old Harwich woman had hit a guardrail and a tree

On Friday, June 14, 2019 at 12:18 am the Dennis Police Department received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle crash on Upper County Road, in the area of the Swan River Bridge, Dennis Port. On arrival officers found that a vehicle had left the south side of the road and was wedged against the guardrail temporarily trapping the woman in the car.

"Personnel from the Dennis Fire Department were able to free the driver from the vehicle at which time she was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries," according to a statement from the Dennis Police Department.

The crash is being investigated by Dennis Patrol Officer Alex Elias. No charges or citations have issued at this time.
