Upcoming programs

‘Taste A Book’ Club: 5 p.m. June 25. Liz Barbour from the Creative Feast will give a cooking demonstration. This month the selected cookbook is “Barefoot Contessa Foolproof” by Ina Garten. Stop by and borrow a copy. Call the library at 508-697-3331 with the page number of the recipe you would like to reserve, cook the recipe and bring the dish to the meeting to share. Attendees must register and bring an item from the cookbook. Barbour will guide participants through a discussion and share her experiences with a variety of recipes featured in the cookbook. Following the discussion, she will demonstrate two recipes from the cookbook. Generous samples will be available for all.

Children’s Room

Uno, Dos, Tres Spanish Story Hour with Maureen Holbrook: 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 18 and 25; July 2, 9 and 30; and Aug. 6. This Spanish-language program consists of stories, music, movement, games and is recommended for ages 3-7. There is no registration for this program.

Summer Reading Sale: June 21. The summer reading sale in the Used Book Store begins with all children’s books, CDs and DVDs half off. All children’s items are now $0.50 through Aug. 13.

Registration begins for Summer Reading: June 22. Open to ages 12 and younger. Sign up for Summer Reading 2019; the theme this year is “A Universe of Stories.” Registration for Summer Reading must be done in person at the Bridgewater Public Library.

Read to Duncan, lovable therapy dog: 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 22. The “Read to a Dog” program provides children the opportunity to visit with a dog while building reading skills in a non-judgmental environment. No registration; all ages welcome.

Summer Reading Kickoff: 6:30 p.m. June 24. A family friendly event to kickoff Summer Reading 2019 with a program by Mike Bent, of AbraKidabra! Bent has been voted Boston’s Best Children’s Entertainer by Nickelodeon and “Best of Boston” by Boston Magazine. See his “Blast off with Books!” Magic Show. Comedy, storytelling, music and magic combine to inspire kids to read all summer long. All ages; no registration.

Make and Take craft: 1-2 p.m. June 26. Drop in to make a Fourth of July wreath. This program is for ages 3 and older with adult helper. No registration, while supplies last.

Lego Mania: 10:30-11:30 a.m. June 27. Ages 5 and older are welcome to join for this drop-in program. Legos will be provided; attendees bring the imagination. Legos creations displayed in the children’s room after the program, as space permits. No registration.

Family Yoga Series: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 12, 19 and 26 and Aug. 2, 9 and 16. Caregivers and children will learn basic yoga postures through storytelling and songs. Families will practice mindfulness and relaxation as well as have fun. Everyone will come away with social and play skills in addition to learning how to be a mindful, less stressed family.
