The following are excerpts from the Bridgewater police log for Tuesday, June 4, through Monday, June 10. The log is public record and available for review. All persons are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
Tuesday, June 4
8:36 a.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported at Bridge Mart on Spring Street. No injuries were reported.
8:39 a.m.: A contractor on Lawrence Avenue reported that yesterday he was informed someone tried to steal a metal I-beam from the job site.
11:55 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported on Legge Street. Police confirmed it was accidental by a dog walker.
11:58 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported on Vernon Street. Police reported the building appeared secure.
12:29 p.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported on Pleasant Street at Elm, and the reporting party followed the involved truck to Scotland Boulevard.
5:37 p.m.: A caller reported her roommate on Spring Street threw water in her face.
6:49 p.m.: A caller reported a male party acting strangely outside Bridgewater Housing Authority on Hermitage Circle. Police spoke to the party, who headed back to his residence for the night.
8:25 p.m: A caller reported a 5-year-old boy standing on the sidewalk on Cedar Street with no visible adult in sight. Police reported the child was playing in his front yard with his grandmother supervising.
9:33 p.m.: An employee at Burlington Coat Factory on Broad Street reported a female party walked out the door with items and left in a vehicle heading north on Route 18.
Wednesday, June 5
8:20 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at McElwain School on Main Street. Police reported the doors were secured.
9:06 a.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported on Pond Street at Roberts Road.
10:19 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at McElwain School on Main Street. Police checked the building.
10:51 a.m.: A minor motor vehicle accident was reported at Home Depot on Pleasant Street.
11:10 a.m.: A caller reported a dog locked inside a black Toyota hybrid with the windows up at Salvation Army Thrift on Main Street. An officer reported a window was open and the dog appeared to be in good condition. The owner was advised of the complaint.
4:01 p.m.: A caller reported a vehicle with its lights on in the lot at the soccer fields on Flagg Street. The vehicle was gone on police arrival.
4:32 p.m.: A walk-in asked to speak with an officer about damage to her vehicle she thought happened on Pleasant Street Monday night.
5:36 p.m.: A bicyclist was reported riding in and out of traffic. The caller stated she believed he drank a “nip.” The party was advised to walk his bike back home.
5:59 p.m.: Lights were reportedly malfunctioning on Spring Street at Broad Street. The caller stated the railroad crossing arms were up and no lights were flashing but she could hear a train horn. Police reported all systems were working fine.
6:04 p.m.: A dead raccoon was reported in the middle of the roadway on Cherry Street at Short Street. Police reported moving a deceased beaver from the roadway.
Thursday, June 6
9:08 a.m.: A caller requested an officer check on a vehicle with Pennsylvania tags that had been parked and unoccupied since Tuesday morning on Old Forest Street. Police reported the vehicle was not a hazard.
11:12 a.m.: A walk-in reported possible identity theft involving a fraudulent cable account set up at an address in Rhode Island using his information.
12:10 p.m.: A walk-in asked about a past assault and battery that she never received a summons for.
1:01 p.m.: A walk-in reported his roommate stole his credit card and had been using it fraudulently.
4:04 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious party wearing a hoodie and walking around the house across the street from him on Norlen Park. Police reported the party lives there and was looking for his basketball.
4:17 p.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at a residence on Redwing Drive. Police checked the property.
5:39 p.m.: Two dogs were reported roaming around Main Street at Center Street. The owner of the dogs responded and took possession of them.
9:19 p.m.: Police arrested a 55-year-old North Easton woman on Main Street, who was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Friday, June 7
9:33 a.m.: A walk-in reported his vehicle was stolen last August by his ex=roommate and was totalled in an accident the day it was reportedly stolen. Police reported the reporting party had been taking payments from the subject to cover the damage. The party was advised it was a civil matter now.
12:28 p.m.: Illegal dumping was reported on Summer Street. An officer reported there was trash on the reporting party’s property and it may have been done by a party with a grudge.
12:50 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious male party checking the neighborhood on Sylvan Terrace. Police were unable to locate the party.
3:49 p.m.: A motor vehicle accident with airbag deployment was reported on Mt. Prospect Street at South Street.
4:28 p.m.: A hit-and-run was reported on Bayberry Circle. The involved vehicle was identified.
8:01 p.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old Bridgewater man on Broad Street, who was charged with possession of a class A drug and possession of a class B drug.
8:16 p.m.: A car reportedly hit a pole on Vernon Street. National Grid was notified. The party was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
10:28 p.m.: Police arrested a New Bedford man on Broad Street on a warrant from another jurisdiction.
Saturday, June 8
1:27 a.m.: A caller reported a suspicious male party walking up and down Main Street yelling “no hate” and hiding behind bushes. The party was transported back to his residence.
2:47 a.m.: A caller reported a man and woman in his next door neighbor’s home on Summer Street and the woman was crying. They stated no one should be home because the owner was hospitalized. Police were unable to locate the parties.
8:16 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at McElwain School on Main Street. Police checked the building.
11:25 a.m.: A caller reported a truck leaving Bridgewater Farm Supply on Plymouth Street dropped a large amount of stone in the roadway. The Highway Department was requested to assist with clearing the roadway.
1:50 p.m.: Police arrested a Bridgewater man on Aldrich Road on a warrant for vandalizing property.
8:25 p.m.: A caller reported someone slashed his tires in the Nip Lot on Lakeside Drive.
8:29 p.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at Zucco Electrical Company on Fireworks Circle. Police checked the property and secured the doors.
Sunday, June 9
5:06 a.m.: A caller reported a male party sleeping on her back deck on Bedford Street. The party stated he was drunk earlier in the night and went to the wrong house.
9:05 a.m.: A caller reported a passenger inside a vehicle assaulting the operator while traveling on Broad Street. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. Mansfield police were notified.
9:51 a.m.: A caller reported damage to the guide wire to the pole at the end of Spring Street. Verizon was notified, and police located a vehicle with damage parked nearby.
11:57 a.m.: An erratic operator was reported on Bedford Street. Police reported the party checked out fine.
1:25 p.m.: A caller was upset about children playing in the apartment above them on Main Street. Police spoke to the parties about keeping the noise down.
2:33 p.m.: A resident of Strawberry Lane reported a silver minivan parked on her street since 10 a.m. with a female party inside. Police reported the party was waiting for her boyfriend who was working in the area.
3:02 p.m.: An injured turtled was reported in the roadway on Vernon Street. The reporting party arranged a private transport to an animal hospital.
6:38 p.m.: Vehicles were reported obstructing the roadway on Plymouth Street at East Street. Police reported the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
8:36 p.m.: A car reportedly hit a deer on South Street. The vehicle was towed.
Monday, June 10
8:27 a.m.: A burglar alarm was reported at McElwain School on Main Street. Police checked the building.
12:11 p.m.: A walk-in reported she was concerned about her sister’s welfare due to addiction and mental health issues. Police located the party at a community respite unit in Brighton.
12:24 p.m.: A shed with a propane tank next to it was reported on fire on Ashtead Road. Fire personnel knocked down the fire.
1:32 p.m.: A motor vehicle accident was reported on East Street.
5:09 p.m.: An erratic operator was reported on Main Street. The vehicle was gone on police arrival.
5:17 p.m.: A caller reported the deadbolt on the front door to her home on Flagg Street was locked and she did not have a key. She also stated there was tape over the other locks to the side entrance. Police assisted the party with entry and checked the property.
5:28 p.m.: A caller reported trash and bottles falling off the back of a recycling vehicle on Pleasant Street. Police reported the operator checked OK and had not been aware of debris falling out of the truck.
5:34 p.m.: A walk-in asked to speak with an officer regarding having her brother no-trespassed from her property.
6:51 p.m.: A suspicious motor vehicle was reported on Clover Drive. Police reported the vehicle was unoccupied.
7:12 p.m.: A third-grade teacher at Mitchell School on Mt. Prospect Street reported her phone was stolen from her desk at some point during the day.
