Women in World Jazz will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Open Book Coffeehouse at the Canton Public Library, 786 Washington St., Canton.

The all-female group showcases music from around the world - from Cuba’s cha cha to Cape Verde’s coladeira as well as songs from Israel, Brazil and Japan, mixed in with jazz favorites. The performance is enhanced by projected images of highlighted artists.

Ensemble leader Tal Shalom-Kobi, an Israeli native, plays upright bass and accordion.

Accompanying her are: lead vocalist Candida Rose, showcasing her Cape Verdean musical roots; Laurie Goldsmith on guitar and bass; Ririka Tokushige (reeds), who hails from Japan, and Diane Gately on drums.

Hot coffee and home-baked goodies will be available at the event, made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Admission is $14 for the general public and $7 for students of any age.
