The annual Jazz and Blues Fest will be held from noon to 6 p.m. June 15 at Nathan Tufts Park, 850 Broadway, Somerville.

The brainchild of Mayor Joe Curtatone, who played trumpet in the Somerville High School Jazz Band, the lineup will feature Meridian 71, an eclectic and international ensemble led by Italian drummer and composer Giuseppe Paradiso. The band’s music is characterized by ongoing research into various music traditions and cultures, including jazz and improvised music to American, Mediterranean and African.

The other bands are the Somerville High Jazz Band, Joe Bargar and the Soul Providers, the Ken Field Nonstandards, Shokazoba and B.J. Magoon and Driving Sideways. Admission is free.
