Events

Arlington Seniors Association annual meeting: 1-3 p.m. June 21, Main Hall. Review of Senior Center renovation by Jenny Raitt, director of Planning and Community Development. Refreshments following.

Movies at 1 p.m.: June 20: “If Beale Street Could Talk,” with Kiki Layne, Stephan James, Regina King.

Book Club: noon-1 p.m. June 21 (Note time change for this month only). The group will be discussing “Song of the Lark,” by Willa Cather.

Singalong with Cheri Minton: 12:30-2 p.m. second Tuesday of each month.

Mah Jongg: 1-3 p.m. Thursdays in the Game Room. Led by Judy Harris. The game itself is free, but regular players will be expected to purchase a mah jongg card for $8. Sign up in the Drop-in Room.

Book Swap (or just take one): The shelves in the Drop-in Room have books arranged by type: fiction/nonfiction. They are free to take. Anyone with one to swap can bring it along.

Computer Help Day: 1-3 p.m. first and third Tuesdays. Sign up in Drop-in Room.

Current Events Discussion Group: 1-2:30 p.m. second and fourth Tuesdays, Games Room.

Strength and Balance Yoga: 9:45-11 a.m. Thursdays. Yoga for gentle and safe stretching and muscle strengthening. No floor work required. Instructor specializes in modifications for those with chronic conditions or limitations. Cost is $5 per class (drop-in).

Yoga: 10-11:15 a.m. Tuesdays and 10:15-11:30 a.m. Fridays. For those who would like a more-rigorous practice, ASA offers a traditional yoga class. Cost is $5 per class (drop-in).

Upcoming trips

That’s Amore and Lobster Bash at the Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, Rhode Island: July 25. International singing sensation Vinnie Talarico, direct from Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, sings, dances, tells jokes, does impersonations, even plays the drums. A fun Italian show featuring songs from Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Lanza, Placido Domingo, Louis Prima, Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Luncheon choice: fresh lobster or petite filet mignon. Departure from St. Camillus parking lot at about 9:15 a.m., returning around 5:45 p.m. Cost: ASA members $96; nonmembers $100.

‘Saturday Night Fever,’ the musical, and Hart’s Turkey Farm luncheon, Meredith, New Hampshire: Aug. 15. Full-course luncheon at Hart’s Turkey Farm (choice of roast turkey, sirloin of beef, or baked haddock). After lunch, you’ll attend the Lakes Region Theatre production of “Saturday Night Fever,” a musical adaptation of the ‘70s classic film. Depart St. Camillus parking lot at 9 a.m.; return at 7:30 p.m. Cost: ASA members $99; nonmembers $104.

A Taste of Providence (RI): Sept. 11. USA Today named it “one of the top ten Little Italys in America.” The group will take a mini tour of Scialo Brothers Italian Bakery. Lunch will be at Andino’s Restaurant in Federal Hill (choice of chicken marsala, baked scrod, or linguini with clam sauce). After lunch, there will be a 90-minute tour of the Federal Hill section, downtown and the Historic East Side, with a professional guide. Before returning home, the group will stop at Venda Ravioli’s Italian Food Emporium, which offers gourmet pasta, cheeses and gift baskets. Depart St. Camillus parking lot at 8:45 a.m.; return approximately 5:15 p.m. Cost: ASA members $80; nonmembers $85.
