College Application Boot Camp: 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday, Aug. 12-15. $199. Fall can be a hectic time for high school seniors. Relieve some pressure and the time crunch of fall by getting a jump start on applications this summer. This four-day course, taught by AHS staff, will provide your student with the information, techniques, feedback and confidence to put together an application that reflects his or her achievements and potential. Topics include: application time management and scheduling, resume-building, essay and supplement writing, interview preparation, and financial aid awareness. There will be a focus on writing and each session will include dedicated time to work on essays and applications with one-on-one attention. Led by Erin Bradley, AHS English teacher, and AHS school counselors Kathy Hirsch and Danielle Rakowsky.

SAT Verbal & Math Review: Monday-Thursday, Aug. 19-22. Performance on standardized tests can be greatly improved with preparation and practice. Community Ed’s summer SAT Prep Class will empower your student to take on both the verbal and math sections. This four-day course is taught by top Arlington teachers at a fraction of the cost of most SAT Prep classes. Students will experience taking the test under time constraints and simulated conditions and learn effective methods for handling typical questions. Pre-test with individual analysis of where improvement is needed and post-test to measure progress included. Verbal with AHS English teacher Allison Lee takes place 9 a.m.-noon and costs $175. Math with AHS math teacher Clayton Jones takes place 1-4 p.m. and costs $175.
