Adult and Teen Events

Adult Writing Group: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays. Join an informal writing group. Be encouraged to set aside a time each week to dedicate to the craft and be inspired by writing peers. The writing group meets weekly on Monday evenings at the library. Hosted by local Mansfield author Vlad Zachary. Zachary is the author of a nonfiction book titled “The Excellence Habit: How Small Changes In Our Mindset Can Make A Big Difference In Our Lives.” No registration required. This program is free and open to adults. Next meeting is June 17.

Coloring Club for Relaxation: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays. The library will provide soothing music, coloring books, markers, colored pencils, crayons and light refreshments. No registration required. This program is free and open to adults and teens ages 12 and older. Next meeting is June 17.

Generational Advisory Board meeting: 11 a.m. to noon June 18. The Mansfield Public Library is currently looking for retirees and senior citizens to be a part of the Generational Advisory Board. By joining, retirees and senior citizens will have the opportunity to advise the library on what topics of materials would be beneficial to the libraryGAB offers retirees and senior citizens a place to share knowledge and experience with each other. No registration required. Light refreshments will be served.

One on One Computer Tutoring Session: 1 to 2 p.m. every first and third Wednesday of the month. The Mansfield Public Library will offer one-on-one, 30-minute computer tutoring sessions every month. In these sessions, patrons can get help setting up and using an email account, using an eReader or smartphone, working in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, downloading eBooks and audiobooks, utilizing the Library catalog, renewing and reserving books online, and learning about the library's online resources. Teen Advisory Board Meeting: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 20. The Mansfield Public Library is currently looking for teens to be a part of the Teen Advisory Board. By joining the Teen Advisory Board, teens will have the opportunity to earn volunteer/community service hours, advise the library on what materials to purchase for the Young Adult area, come up with ideas for fun programs to have at the library, eat snacks, and more. Library Book Club & Author Visit: 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 20. The Mansfield Public Library Book Club welcomes author Edwin Hill to discuss his book, “Little Comfort.” No registration required. New members welcome. This program is free and open to all.



Youth Room Events

Ongoing Regular Story Times:  There are storytimes for ages 2 and under on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and Fridays at 11 a.m. Multi-age storytime takes place on Thursdays at 10:15 a.m., and storytime for ages 3 and older on Fridays at 10:15 a.m. Online registration required. No Story Time from June 10-21. Summer Story Time schedule will start on June 25 and go through Aug. 23.

Sun, Moon, Stars & Shine: 11 a.m. June 15. Suggested for ages 4 and older. Storyteller and musician Mary Jo Maichack provides an interactive family program with stories and songs about the cosmos in honor of the library summer reading theme: ”A Universe of Stories!”

Registration for the Library Summer Reading Program begins: June 15. Come to the Youth Room to register, and pick up a Reading Log. The Reading Logs will be used from June 23-Aug. 24.

Bee Kind Music Class with Carrie Rowan: 10:15 or 10:50 a.m. June 17. Sing, dance, play instruments and joyfully express one’s self through a mutual love of music and fun. Online registration is required. Register for only one of the classes.

STEAM Program with Carol Carver (from Self Help Inc.): 10 a.m. June 19. For ages 3-5. Children and caregivers can enjoy a special science program. Online registration is required.

STEM night: 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. June 20. For ages 3-7. Online registration is required.

Library Summer Reading Log: June 23. Start keeping track of your reading on the Library Summer Reading Log, which you receive when you register for the Library Summer Reading Program.

Circle of Songs with Hugh Hanley: 9:30 a.m. June 24. Enjoy a wide and varied repertoire of songs, fingerplays, and music activities that are accessible and highly engaging.

Drop-In Crafts: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 25-27. For ages 3 and older with a caregiver. There will be one theme each week. Different drop-in programs will continue through the summer.

Science Tellers: 10:30 a.m. June 29. For ages 3 and older. “Aliens Escape From Earth.” Experience science and storytelling synergy.
