Twelve local artists from Medford, Somerville, Wakefield, Boston and Malden will be featured in “Women Rising,” the latest show at Howe’s Gallery, 392 Main St., Medford.

The exhibit will run from June 18 to July 19, and the opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. June 21.

Cosponsored by the Zonta Club of Medford, the show is a celebration of Zonta International’s centennial year.

“The art work celebrates the work of Zonta over the past 100 years to end violence against women and girls, to provide better access to health care and to empower women through education,” said Donna Clifford, president of the Zonta Club of Medford. “As Zonta has an international presence, it is fitting that we have works depicting women from India, Mexico and Africa.”

As part of the Women’s Rising exhibit, the gallery invites attendees to bring a picture 8 x 10 or smaller that depicts empowered women and girls to help create a Wall of Empowerment from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22-23.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
