The following activities are being offered by the Hanover Council on Aging.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

LGBTQ Pride Celebration: June 19 at the Duxbury Council on Aging, 10 Mayflower St., Duxbury. This event is organized by Old Colony Elder Services, Duxbury Senior Center, Hanover Council on Aging and Middleboro Council on Aging. Pride Celebration is free to the public and includes lunch and entertainment. Reservations can be made with Kerry Zingaro at 508-584-1561, ext. 437.

Meet the Author Summer Series: 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 19. “What’s the Buzz: The Importance of Bees: Extinction and the Overview of the Wild Bees in Massachusetts,” by Sean Kent. Kent is an author, photographer and educator at the Massachusetts Audubon Society at the Canton Sanctuary. Kent will also receive the John Curtis Award for Lifelong Learning. Sign up or show up. Reservations recommended. A slide show will be presented and light refreshments will be served.

 

ONGOING:

Zumba: 4:30 to 5:30  p.m. Wednesdays. This a free six-week Zumba class. Open to all levels. Sign up or show up. For more information, call 781-924-1913.

American History Matters: 6:30 to 8 p.m. This is a year-long monthly series in partnership with the Hanover Historical Society.  

Yoga Beyond the Mat: 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, May 22, 29 and June 5. Reserve a place early. This is a slow, mindful practice incorporating deep breathing, movement and meditation. Chairs available if needed. Guided by Kripalu certified instructor Nancy Boyle.
