Aeronaut Arlington Beer Garden; Saturday, June 15 at 12 p.m. at Whittemore-Robbins Park, 670 Massachusetts Ave.: The Aeronaut Arlington beer garden returns this summer, each Saturday throughout the season a fun-filled day at Whittemore-Robbins Park featuring live music, food and of course, ice cold beer. This weekend's live entertainment will be Americana and acoustic musician Dean Harlem. The event runs from noon to 7 p.m., and a rain date is scheduled for Sunday, June 16.
Cat Adoption Day; Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Methodist Church, 300 Massachusetts Ave.: Find a new love and adopt a cat. All cats are tested, vaccinated and altered and medical records are provided with each adoption. Gifts for pets and people available to benefit the Animal Umbrella Street Cats Shelter. Low nonprofit adoption fee if you fall in love with one of these felines. The event will run from 1-4 p.m.
‘Bricks, Rolltops, and Art Glass - A Look Back at Somerville Industry 1820-1960’; Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m. at Old Schwamb Mill, 17 Mill Lane: This talk will focus on Somerville’s history as a hotbed of industry, examining extant, repurposed industrial complexes whose buildings survive as well as industrial complexes that have passed without a trace. Other topics include the environmental disaster that triggered the creation of the Massachusetts Board of Health in 1869 and the automobile assembly plant that churned out the Ford’s Edsel clunker of the 1950s. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $5.
Swing Cafe Concert; Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at Robbins Library, 700 Massachusetts Ave.: Join Robbins Library for our annual free outdoor concert with Swing Café, rain or shine. Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic supper and a summer state of mind to enjoy Swing Cafe, an acoustic swing, jazz, and rockabilly band that plays music, drawn largely from pop standards of the 30s, 40s and 50s. Come enjoy Swing Cafe’s fun, classy stage presence and easy repartée. In sunny weather, the concert will be held on the Robbins Library Lawn shared with the Whittemore Robbins House. In rainy weather, the concert will move into Town Hall.
Toddler Construction Session; Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at Robbins Library, 700 Massachusetts Ave.: Children ages 2 and up are invited to come out to the Robbins Library and try out their building skills in this session featuring LEGO and KNEX for the kids to play with.
