A stretch of Grove Street is temporarily closed off as the Brockton Fire Department responds to the incident.
BROCKTON — A car struck a utility pole near 144 Grove Street this afternoon, splitting the utility pole near its base and flipping the car onto its roof.
The driver, a 55-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital for "general weakness symptoms" after she extricated herself from the vehicle, according to Deputy Chief Brian Nardelli of the Brockton Fire Department.
"She said she felt okay but really wanted to get looked at," Nardelli told The Enterprise. "The injuries were pretty benign."
The driver’s gray Nissan Altima landed in the middle of the road. The Fire Department closed off a stretch of Grove Street as they responded to the crash.
Utility workers quickly arrived on scene to replace the pole. Nardelli said power on the street was not out at the time of the accident, but utility workers may have to cut power later as they replace the pole.
