Center Happenings

Scam prevention presentation: 1 p.m. Dec. 11. Representatives from Sheriff Bellotti and District Attorney Morrissey’s offices will offer a program which covers the most common scams currently circulating, the major red flags to watch out for, and the precautionary tactics used to protect one’s self and identity. Getting Through the Holidays and Beyond After a Loss: 11 a.m. Dec. 11. Gail Murphy, LICSW, will be at the Adult Center to discuss how to cope with the holidays as well as other days of special significance after the loss of a loved one. Topics include the way we grieve, self care and how to begin to move forward. Free; RSVP for seating suggested. For information or RSVP: 781-784-8000.

Holiday Party: 10 a.m. Dec. 13. The Adult Center’s annual Holiday Party. Coffee and pastry begins at 10 a.m.; entertainment at 11 a.m. will be the Sharon High School Show Choir. Lunch at 12:15 p.m. will be French bread cheese pizza and salad, $3 suggested lunch donation will be collected at the table. Candy treats for all attendees. For available spaces: 781-784-8000.

RMV Near Me: 10-11:30 a.m. Fridays. The Adult Center has a volunteer available to assist with the following: registration renewals, change of address, duplicate license or registration, how to report a lost or stolen disability placard and how to request a replacement, and license renewals for licensed drivers younger than 75. The volunteer can also assist with paperwork for the REAL ID. Must have a valid checking account or credit card to process any transaction; no cash accepted. No appointment necessary. The Adult Center is not a full-service registry—no pictures, eye exams, etc., available.

Shine counselor: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone provides information, counseling and assistance regarding health insurance and health benefits to seniors.
