The Concord Museum will host Author & Illustrator Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Rasmussen Education Center, 53 Cambridge Turnpike, Concord.
Visitors can meet some of the authors and illustrators whose books are featured in “Family Trees: the 23rd Annual Celebration of Children’s Literature” at the Rasmussen Education Center. Families will have an opportunity to meet nine children’s book authors and illustrators as they sign their books, including Melissa Sweet, illustrator of nearly 100 children’s books and 2018 honorary chair.
Illustrators who will be standing by their book-themed tree to answer questions, sign autographs and read their stories include Josh Funk, “Lost in the Library”; Kate Narita, “100 Bugs”; Paul Czajak, “The Book Tree”; Elaine Magliaro, “Things to Do”; Bo Marstall, “On Gull Beach”; Julia Denos, “Windows”; Jane Yolen, “On Gull Beach”; Sweet, “Brave Girl”; and E.B. Goodale, “Windows.”
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the publication of “Little Women” and as part of the Authors & Illustrators Day there will be a special interactive performance by Louisa May Alcott from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Rasmussen Education Center. Louisa May Alcott will be portrayed by Orchard House Executive Director Jan Turnquist.
