WAREHAM – The Addiction Drop-In Center held in the Parish Hall of The Church of the Good Shepherd, 74 High St., which is usually open every third Wednesday of the month from 5 – 8 p.m., will next be open on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 5 – 8 p.m. due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Drop-In Center will return to its third Wednesday of the month meeting in December on Dec. 19. The Drop-In Center is a place where those who need and want to be treated for their addiction can be helped. It is a place where resources related to addiction can be found, including recovery support groups and support groups for those whose loved ones have an addiction. Narcan and Narcan training is available at the Drop-In Center. Remember, addiction is not about choice or a reflection of one’s moral character, addiction is a disease that takes hold of one’s life and we should treat it as such.
November also marks the first anniversary of the Addiction and Recovery Drop-In Center, On Wednesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6 p.m., a Service of Remembrance and Hope will be held in the church. During the service those gathered will be remembering those who have died from addiction and supporting those who are in recovery from addiction. There will be two speakers at this service - a person in long term recovery and a person who has lost a loved one to addiction. During the service there will be an opportunity for you to remember by name your loved one lost to addiction. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend. The Center will be open from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the church basement on Nov. 14.
