NEW BEDFORD — Phone home with E.T. on the big screen this month for free.

Movies in the Park, an outdoor movie series staged in New Bedford’s Buttonwood Park, will present the family blockbuster “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” on Friday, July 20 at sunset.

The movie will be screened east of the Buttonwood Park playground. The event is free and open to the public.

A rain date for the screening has been set for Friday, July 27.

The movie begins at sunset (approximately 7:30 p.m.), and attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring their own blankets and lawn chairs for seating.

The City of New Bedford’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Beaches has provided access to the park for this event. Equipment is provided by the United Way of Greater New Bedford.
