A 37-year-old Milford man was arrested yesterday after allegedly breaking into the home of a woman believed to be his estranged wife, cutting her phone lines and making threats, police said.
Peter R. Hanson, of 235 Central St., was arrested at about 12:55 a.m. and charged with nighttime breaking and entering of a building for felony, intimidating a witness, and violating an abuse prevention order, police said.
Hanson allegedly entered the bedroom where the woman was sleeping, said Sgt. David Sacco.
"The victim went to call police and found her phone lines dead," Sacco said. "A subsequent investigation found they had been intentionally cut."
The woman ran out of the house and asked someone on the street to call police, Sacco said.
According to the police report, the alleged victim said Hanson was looking for a car, which she told him was on Plain Street, Sacco said.
Police went to that location where they arrested him, Sacco said.
"Not too smart," he said.
The district attorney will be asking for a "high cash bail" since Hanson was facing a previous charge and was out on personal recognizance, Sacco said.
Hanson had been arrested after a domestic dispute June 23 on charges of charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to police records.
