DENNIS — Lourdes (Vieira) Cardoso-Samagaio, formerly of Taunton, died June 27 at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in Dennis following an 18-month illness. She was 81.
Lourdes (Vieira) Cardoso-Samagaio, formerly of Taunton, died June 27 at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in Dennis following an 18-month illness. She was 81.
Born in Madeira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Jesuina (Freitas) Vieira. She was educated in Portugal and moved to the U.S. at 19, spending most of her life in Taunton. She moved to Dennis 18 months ago.
She was the wife of the late Paulo Cardoso.
She worked as a sewing machine operator for the former Rennie Curtain Factory for many years before retiring. She enjoyed word games, crossword puzzles and especially traveling.
She is survived by two sons, George Cardoza and Robert D. Cardoza, both of Taunton; two daughters, Mary McNally of Newport, R.I. and Anna Croke of Dennis; a brother, Vasco Viera of Madeira, Portugal; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James Vieira.
Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday, July 2 at Silva Funeral Home followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 Sunday, July 1.
