The Marshfield High cross country teams had strong showings at the Division 2 EMass Meets in Wrentham on Saturday as the boys placed third while the girls finished ninth.
The boys’ third-place finish advances the team to the All-State Meet on Saturday in Wrentham.
The Rams’ top finisher was senior Joe Joyce, who signed his National Letter of Intent earlier in the week to run at the University of Vermont. Joyce finished 16th in 16:17. Sophomore Nick Valianti was second in 16:32, good for 24th.
Seniors James Condon (33rd) and Chris Bunker (35th) and sophomore Jack Pesko (39th) placed in the top 40. Junior Liam Hipwell was 52nd.
The Rams finished with 147 points, placing behind champion Wellesley (68 points) and Concord-Carlisle.
The girls finished in 10th with 316 points. The Rams improved five spots from last year and were led by freshman Sofia LoVuolo. LoVuoli finished 14th in 19:29, top among all freshman, and qualified for the All-State Meet on Saturday.
LoVuolo wasn’t the only freshmen to run for Marshfield. Ruth Penney placed 73rd while classmates Amanda MacKinnon (95th) and Cayden Hitchcock (113rd) also ran.
Junior Gillian Pifer placed 57th. Sophomore Jenny Brown improved her freshman time by three minutes to finish in 21:10, good for 77th. Sophomore Kaela Leary placed 100th.
