To the editor:
The Braintree model of assigning teachers to help students in afternoon detentions and on Saturdays cannot be overstated. ("Weymouth suspended 288 students last year, more than any other South Shore school," March 10) Many students become disengaged and embarrassed by the fact that they do not understand or cannot keep up with their class work. I'm sure a correlation could be made between students who act out and academic performance.
