Many thanks to all those who attended the 29th Annual Meeting and Luncheon (Feb. 13) for the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce, hosted at the Westford Regency. Around 100 members attended, enjoyed the Sicilian buffet, and voted on the slate of new Board Directors as well as the matriculation of directors to the Executive Committee positions.
New Board Directors include Luann Colombo of Juice Plus+, Peter Daniel of Rapscallion Table & Tap and Shannon Sinnott of Concord’s Colonial Inn. We welcome them aboard for their three-year tenure.
Maura Haberman, of Acton Recreation, spoke to the past year and the major changes that occurred over the past year, and ended her tenure as President for which she was awarded a special plaque and a citation from Senator Jamie Eldridge. Maura handed the presidential reigns to Jeff Turcotte of Worker’s Credit Union. Jeff spoke to the membership about looking to the future, making sure that whatever the chamber decides to do, it must do it well while recognizing the realistic availability of our resources to do so. Don Ludwig of Ludwig Agency was also voted in as the new Vice President.
Amanda Scribner (Visiting Angels), former President, was also recognized for her tenure during 2016-2017, and received a long-awaited plaque and senatorial citation as she had not been presented with such at the prior annual meeting.
And it is with great thanks, but also emotion, that the Chamber recognized the Board service of Tony Rivero (Visiting Angels) as he steps down from his tenure as a director. His very personable demeanor and outreach will be missed, and his time has been greatly appreciated.
Numerous membership anniversary milestones were recognized and Keynote Speaker Nam Pham (sponsored by Worker’s Credit Union) of the Mass Office of Transportation and Tourism spoke about the future of travel and industry in the region and the state and the importance of small business supplying services for those on travel as much as larger businesses who might depend on that tourism. Also, from the MOTT office was John Alzapiedi who offered a presentation about the Travel and Tourism website and how easy it is for a business to sign on for free and create their own web presence through their site, offering many layers of marketing opportunities.
