A Lynn man is facing charges of domestic assault and battery and larceny of a vehicle after allegedly stealing a Nissan Rogue and failing to stop for police.
Saugus Police Assistant Chief Ronald Giorgetti said a 911 call came in a little after 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 for a vehicle stolen from an Atlas Avenue residence.
A responding officer observed a 2011 Nissan Rogue matching the description on Lincoln Avenue and followed the vehicle to Naples Avenue, Giorgetti said.
Once on Naples Avenue, the driver exited the vehicle and fled into bushes at the end of the street, according to police.
Following a brief foot pursuit, officers found the male, Michael J. Byrnes, 52, of 3 Mace Place, Lynn, in a Naples Avenue yard and took him into custody, Giorgetti said.
As a result of the police investigation Byrnes was arrested on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, domestic assault and battery and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
