School Dept. hope third time’s a charm
Looking for a really unusual gift? Marblehead High School might have just what you need.
FOR SALE: 1 Tiny House, $21,600.
Built last year by Marblehead High School students as a class project, the house is being sold by sealed bid with a minimum set at $21,600, which was the cost to build the project. Any bid submitted below the minimum will be rejected, according to the bid package.
The house has previously gone out to bid twice with no takers. School officials are hoping a third time might be a charm.
THE SPECS: According to the bid package, the Tiny House is approximately 165-square feet, including the sleeping loft and is built on a brand new 18-foot Tumbleweed trailer. The exterior is mist gray “LP Smartside” with tempered Andersen windows and a forest green metal roof. The inside is finished with exposed beams, knotty pine tongue & groove paneling, and wide pine plank floors. The kitchen has four cabinets, a relatively large butcher block counter, refrigerator, and butcher block island with breakfast bar. The space is wired for electricity and has a water system for three season use with 26 gallon potable water tank and pump.
The bathroom is tiny but sports a shower, pump toilet and sink connections and privacy is provided by a sliding barn door. The sleeping loft of approximately 48 square feet and located above the kitchen and a small storage loft is located above the bathroom. The loft floors are also tongue and groove wood.
There are also nice touches with several wrought iron light fixtures and a wrought iron railing on the loft area.
